.: Love is a Lie

Sometimes you think you love something, but when you have a lot of it, you understand it might be too much. Do you like bananas ? I do. So I thought I would try a banamisù… LOL, ok a kind of tiramisù based on banana. I knew banana taste tends to be excessive, but I underestimated the thing. So you will benefit from my mistake. I’m gonna tell you what I did and how to improve it.

Looks good, uh ?

Ingredients (2 cups):
– 125 gr mascarpone
– 1 egg – 1 uovo
– 2 spoons of sugar – 2 cucchiai di zucchero
– 1 banana
– almond slices – mandorle a fette
– 1 biscuit for decoration – 1 biscotto per decorare
To improve the result:
– coffee, to wet the biscuit – caffè per bagnare il biscotto
– bitter cocoa or chocolate drops – cacao amaro o gocce di cioccolato

Mash half of the banana and brown the almond slices in a pan * schiacciate metà banana e arrostite le fette di mandorla in una padellina

whip the eggwhite * montate il bianco a neve * blend sugar and yolk * mescolate il tuorlo con lo zucchero

add the mashed banana * aggiungete la banana schiacciata * add the mascarpone and the almonds (keep some aside for the decoration) – [here is the moment to add chocolate drops for an improvement] * aggiungete il mascarpone e le mandorle (tenetene da parte un po’ per la decorazione) – [qui dovreste aggiungere gocce di cioccolato amaro, cosa che io non ho fatto]

Add the whipped eggwhite * aggiungete il bianco a neve

Put some of the mixture in the cup and put some slices of banana on it, then cover with the rest of the mixture * Mettete un po’ del composto nella coppetta, aggiungete qualche fetta di banana e coprite con il resto del composto

Put the biscuit on top [improvement: wet the biscuit in the coffee, before], with the almonds * Decorate con il biscotto [per migliorare il gusto, bagnate il biscotto nel caffè] e le mandorle rimaste

Put them in the freezer * mettete il tutto in freezer.

Now listen to 6 or 7 songs by Beth, then you can take it out of the freezer.

.: Mother

Mia madre è molto più brava di me in cucina. Diciamo che io ci provo, ma non sarò mai brava quanto lei… e le sue lasagne lo dimostrano

Mum is much better than me at cooking and her lasagna prove it. Once a week I have to be reminded she’s the best between the two of us 😀 and I’m glad of it. So if you really want to know what the true Emilian lasagna is, this is the place: it is a layered pasta. Layers are of 3 types:
1) pasta (sfoglia – lasagna is a format of pasta all’uovo)
2) béchamel – besciamella
3) ragù and parmesan

You will hear of all kind of variations and renditions of lasagna all over Italy and all over the world. But the only true original lasagna is this one. Don’t let’em fool you. Questa è la lasagna emiliana. Tutto il resto sono varianti e pasticci. Ok you can eat whatever kind of “lasagna” you want, because it’s ok to be creative. But don’t call them “true lasagna” 😀 Thank you mum !

the song is a rhetorical challenge to parents, primarily inspired by Tipper Gore (the wife of Al Gore) who, along with the Parents Music Resource Center, introduced the Parental Advisory warning placed on albums that contain explicit content.
Glenn Danzig explained further: “Al Gore wanted to tell people what they could listen to and what they couldn’t…it was basically coming down to the idea that he wouldn’t let anybody record any music that he didn’t think you should be doing. There was going to be an organization that would tell you what you could and couldn’t record. And certainly if you couldn’t record it, you couldn’t put it out. It was really fascist.”
