.: Banana test

This is my second test with bananas. I think it’s not bad, especially for, let’s say, an “anglosaxon breakfast”. We do not eat eggs in the morning, but this could be something pleasant for a rich breakfast.

The recipe is similar to that of my fritcake, but with some variations:
1 egg – 1 uovo
cream – panna da cucina (1 spoon * 1 cucchiaio)
flour (1 spoon) – farina (1 cucchiaio)
grated bread (1 spoon) – pangrattato (1 cucchiaio)
Asiago cheese
cinnamon – cannella
1/2 banana
(sweet) butter – burro

Chop the cheese in small thin slices * tritate il formaggio a fettine piccole e sottili. * Whip the eggwhite * montate il bianco a neve

Blend the yolk with the cinnamon, the cream, the smashed banana, the flour * Mescolate il tuorlo con la cannella, la panna, la banana schiacciata, la farina

Add the bread and the cheese * Aggiungete il pangrattato e le scaglie di formaggio.

Finally add the whipped eggwhite and blend * Infine unite il bianco montato a neve

Fry in a pan greased with little butter: be careful, will burn easily * friggete in una padellina con poco burro: attenzione, frigge subito.

It’s a pretty fluffy and sweet omelette with a cheesy heart. Well.. maybe banana taste is a bit too sweet.. I’m not sure * otterrete una frittata dolce, gonfia e con un cuore di formaggio. Il gusto di banana aggiunge dolcezza… ma forse si può fare anche senza.

To complement this experiment, I offer you something I discovered today: The Nortons. If you love blues, you will be delighted.

Have a good Labor day. I know in USA and Canada it will be in September, but hey… it is today for us here. More than 80 countries celebrate International Workers’ Day on May 1 – the ancient European holiday of May Day. Buon 1° Maggio!

.: Black coffee

Well, actually I don’t like black coffee as much as I love dark chocolate, but I still like to play with coffee in the milk foam 😀

and I love Beth & Joe songs really much !

be’ non so cosa preferisco tra Beth e un tortino al cioccolato….

non credo riuscirete a capirlo guardando questo blog, perché è pieno di canzoni di Beth e di tortini al cioccolato 😀

.: Your heart is as black as night

I wanted to try again a version of Brenda’s Ding Dong, with a softer heart.

Ok the test  was not 100% successful, but I really enjoyed the result, because they’re very soft inside. For some reason, with the same amount of ingredients, this time I made four little cakes, instead of three, but ok…

50 gr dark chocolate – cioccolato fondente
25 gr butter – burro
30 gr sugar – zucchero
1 egg – 1 uovo
20 gr flour – farina
10 gr cocoa powder – cacao in polvere
a bit of baking powder – appena un po’ di lievito per dolci
cinnamon – cannella

Process is the same: melt the butter with the chocolate and a bit of cinnamon * sciogliete il burro con il cioccolato e pochissima acqua

Whip the egg white. Blend the sugar with the yolk and mix them all * Montate il bianco a neve e battete il tuorlo con lo zucchero, poi uniteli

Blend the egg+sugarwith the butter+chocolate+cinnamon. Mescolate tutto

e aggiungete anche la farina, il lievito e il cacao * add the flour, the baking powder and cocoa powder. If you need it, add a little milk to make it more fluid * Se è troppo densa, diluitela con un po’ di latte

As you can see, this time is more fluid than the previous time.

Cook in the oven at 160°C for 10 minutes. I left them in the off-turned oven for 3 minutes more, but you can take them out !

and then you have to……… try !

their heart is black and soft

they’re my chocolate !

.: Lovely day

I know Steve in person. I met him when he was a teen. He was not very good at school, ‘cause he used to spend hours and hours listening to music. He loved music like nothing. His father was a songwriter, his grandma was a theatre singer and his brother is a singer. Might have been a burden in the past, but now he’s made his own way, and I think he’s a great singer. Good luck Stefano.

I hope it’s a lovely day for him and for all of you.

.: Soul shine

My daddy always says cheese is one of the most basic and fundamental human food. I’m not particularly fond of cheese, but sure he’s right. And it can be a real comfort food… taking you to the basic of your soul, to the simplest sensations of taste.

Finito.

Non so perchè ma… cheese always make me think of Rumi.

and Beth…

When you can’t find the light,
That guides you on the cloudy days,
When the stars ain’t shinin’ bright,
You feel like you’ve lost you’re way,
When those candle lights of home,
Burn so very far away,
Well you got to let your soul shine,
Just like my mama used to say.

She used to say soulshine,
It’s better than sunshine,
It’s better than moonshine,
Damn sure better than rain.
